PSAT/SAT

PSAT

English:
This class is led by the instructor through the rigors of an SAT preparation course. The students begin with a diagnostic test to assess what the students’ strengths and weaknesses are. Then they study general and specific strategies for all sections of the verbal SAT. Some of the things they will study are Grammar, Grammar Usage, Writing,Vocabulary, Test-taking Skills, Sentence Completion, all kinds of Reading Comprehension and Testing Strategies. By the end of the course, the students will have a much better understanding of the content of the test as well as a better grasp on Grammar,Verbal, Essay Writing and Test-taking skills.

Math:
This course involves extensive work with NEW PSAT practice test materials. During the course, students review the basic Number and Operations; Algebra I & II and Functions; Geometry; Statistics; Probability and Data Analysis. Emphasis is placed on developing sound test strategies and also on mathematical problem solving skills in general.

SAT I

English:
During the class, the student will receive atleast 100 vocabulary words a week. We will address Reading Comprehension Skills, Prefixes, Roots, and Suffixes, Sentence Completions, Keywords and Testing Strategies. Diagnostic tests will be administered throughout the semester. Students will be required to appear for the test taken every week. This will help each student to analyse more Reading Comprehension and Writing (Essay).

Math:
Instructors provides students with an in-depth analysis of the basic mathematical concepts; Number and Operations; Algebra I & II and Functions; Geometry; Statistics, Probability, and Data Analysis. Methods for attacking quantitative comparisons and student-produced response questions will be sharpened by intensive in-class drills and homework exercises, as well as simulated practice exams under real-time test conditions. Test-taking skills and strategies will be offered, and specific problem areas targeted. Rational, methodical modes of approach will be taken which emphasize insight into puzzle-problems and how to dismantle complex problems. A variety of tricks and shortcuts are offered to minimize time while maximizing scores.
