The Test of English as a Foreign Language™ (TOEFL®) measures the ability of nonnative speakers of English to use and understand English as it is spoken, written, and heard in college and university settings.

The applicant must register for the TOEFL through Educational Testing Service (ETS). To get a schedule or registration forms, visit www.ets.org/toefl or call ETS at (609) 771- 7760. Long Island Conservatory's code is 0598.

LISMA Language Cetner offers Internet-Based Testing of TOEFL as of March, 2007.

Objective

Welcome to the Long Island Conservatory (LIC) / LISMA Language Center, where the most unique linguistic adventures are offered. LISMA Language center is a leader in providing English as a second Language program s for corporate executives throughout the US and around the world. It is designed for non-native speakers who wish to enrich the English skills for their business, personal use , or etc. Each course will help you meet all your needs, incorporating the vocabulary specific to your communication goals .

The English as a Second Language Program serves students at Long Island Conservatory (LIC) LISMA Language Center who are non-native speakers of English. The ESL Program offers courses that fulfill LIC' s requirements for written and oral communication and instructors who are experienced in designing and teaching courses for non-native speakers teach these courses.

The students will develop their potential offers in the courses and be able to success in any academic environments in the United States.

Admission and Placement Test

US Citizens and Permanent Residents

1. Application form with copy of citizenship, permanent residents card or copy of passport (if applicant is F-1
student )
2. Non-refundable registration fee of $100.00
3. Tuition (depends on number of subjects)
4. Transfer-form from previous school (if the applicants of transferring from other institution)

*F-1 students requires to have minimum of 18 hours a week.

International Students

It is required to have F-1 (student visa) before coming to United States.
For applying F-1 visa applicant must submit all documents listed below :

1. Copy of passport
2. Application form with non-refundable of $100.00 (US Dollar check or money order only)
3. Financial statement (bank statement as affidavit of support and must be translated in English)
4. Tuition –Full day Program is required. (Full tuition must submitted when applicant apply for LISMA Language Center)

All applicants must take placement test at the LISMA Language Center on the first day of the semester.
Course level may change depends on student’s placement test result from which student originally registered.


Transferred Students from other institution

1. Copy of passport
2. Application form with non-refundable of $100.00 (US Dollar check or money order only)
3. Financial statement (bank statement as affidavit of support and must be translated in English)
4. Copy of I-20 form from previous institution
