Admissions:
Admission into any music program is contingent upon passing auditions, demonstrating students' skills in performance on a major instrument/voice. Students also take examination in sight-singing, ear training in order to demonstrate talent, well-developed musicianship, and artistic sensibilities. Foreign students must submit tapes of their musical performances to the school's admissions office with their completed application.

The admission evaluation process is held twice a year. Once during the month of June and July for the upcoming fall semester, and another during November and December for the spring semester. Only after the tape is reviewed will the students be notified of the audition schedule. All non-returnable application forms and other materials sent with the applications must be submitted by the end of May or October.

All applicants (Domestic and Internatioanl) must submit an official transcript from latest institution attended. If official document is not written in English, It must be translated into English by an official translator and notorized. After all documents are filled in, the audition date will be notified to each applicant within 2 weeks.

*LIC auditions are only held in our Long Island Campus only. Applicants residing outside of North America may either audition live in Long Island or opt to send a videotape audition.
*Pre-screening tapes (either videotape or cassette) are required from all applicants. All pre-screening tapes must be received by the application deadline. Tapes received after the deadline may be reviewed at the discretion of the Director of Admissions, depending on the availability of audition slots. Applicants to these majors who reside outside of North America and who do not wish to be invited to a live audition must submit a videotape, not an audio cassette.
*Late applications must be approved by the Director of Admissions.
*Applicants will be notified in writing of their exact audition time and date approximately one month before the audition period.

LIC is one of the selective music schools, which offer a wide range of career planning resources. Our counseling and career placement offices provide attentive individual counseling, which will guide them to better career paths.

If you want to transfer to or from another school., extend your stay, or leave the country for a vacation, we will assist you throughout the process. Experienced counselors will be available for guidance.

Housing services are available for students who need them. LIC keeps a current list of available houses, apartments, rooms and roommates. Students can experience New York culture first-hand with American Host families.
* Placement Services
Through a network with other musical institution, LIC searchs out opportunities for students to participate in solo, ensemble, and orchestra work. In addition, it helps students obtain part-time and summer employment.
